Colonel Karl B. Schultz is Reserve Advisor for Aerial Ports to the Director of
Logistics, Headquarters Air Mobility Command, Scott Air Force Base, Illinois. In
this capacity he serves as principal advisor on Reserve Component aerial port
matters, and is responsible for the readiness of 67 Reserve Component aerial ports
with over 9,500 personnel representing 72% of Air Mobility Command’s wartime
capability. He serves as central point of contact for matters related to Air Force
Reserve Command (AFRC) affairs and the Directorate of Logistics. He provides
liaison on operational matters between AMC and HQ AFRC in the discharge of
gaining command responsibilities and provides advisory assistance to functional
staffs throughout the directorate.
The colonel enlisted in the Air Force Reserve in 1965. Following technical training
as an Air Freight Specialist, he served as an Airman and NCO in several air
transportation assignments prior to being commissioned a Second Lieutenant
through the Deserving Airman Program in 1975. He served as Squadron
Operations Officer of the 40th Mobile Aerial Port Squadron at Rickenbacker Air
National Guard Base, Ohio prior to being named Commander of the 87th Aerial
Port at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio in 1989. In 1996, Colonel Schultz
was assigned as Individual Mobilization Augmentee to the Chief of Cargo and
Passenger Operations, Headquarters Air Mobility Command, Scott Air Force Base,
Illinois. In March 1999, Colonel Schultz returned to active duty in a Statutory Tour
as Reserve Advisor for Aerial Port to the Director of Operations, Headquarters Air
Mobility Command.
Colonel Schultz is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati, and worked in the
machine tool industry for 34 years with senior management assignments including
engineering management, customer service and manufacturing operations prior to
returning to active duty.
